Western Algarve

The region of Western Algarve is where the weather is cooler but always warm, and more windy. The west coast to the Atlantic is formed with high cliffs, the water temperature is cooler and the sea is rougher. It's beautiful beaches are ideal for surfing and kite surfing.

The south coast of this region gets less hilly after Sagres and the water temperature gets warmer in the direction to the east. All the west coast and south coast until the village of Luz are part of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, which means that no high touristic infrastructures are allowed. So this is the perfect region for Nature lovers.

After Luz you have Lagos, a beautiful old city with a castle and a Marina, and Portimao a big coast city with a touristic region named Praia da Rocha.
